Dhawan is Indian Punjabi Hindu. He was born to film director David Dhawan and mother Karuna Dhawan. His whole family works in Bollywood industry as director, actor etc., He has an elder brother Rohit Dhawan, directed the movie Desi Boyz a 2011 film. Anil his uncle is also an actor.

EDUCATION

He went to H.R. College of Commerce and Economics for his HSC studies. Later went to United Kingdom to pursue Business degree from Nottingham Trent University. Before starting acting he worked with Karan Johar as assistant director on film My Name Is Khan in 2010.

Apart from his acting pursuits, Varun Dhawan has also made a mark in the live performance circuit. He has showcased his stage presence at numerous high-profile events, including the prestigious Filmfare, Screen, and Stardust award ceremonies.
